World Physiotherapy Day Camp Promotes Mobility, Healthy Ageing and Functional Independence - 2026
As part of the World Physiotherapy Day programme, a Physiotherapy Camp was conducted at Samarpana, Sri Sailaya Centre for Senior Residence, Siruvapuri, on September 4, 2026. The initiative focused on promoting physical well-being, mobility, functional independence, and healthier ageing among senior citizens.
Approximately 60 elderly residents participated in the camp, which included initial assessments addressing common age-related musculoskeletal and functional concerns. The physiotherapy team provided practical guidance on joint mobility, flexibility, strengthening, posture, balance, gait, and fall prevention to support safer movement and everyday functioning.
Participants were demonstrated age-appropriate therapeutic exercises and simple home-based physical activities, with individual guidance provided for mobility limitations, joint stiffness, muscle weakness, and balance difficulties. The programme encouraged regular physical activity and safe movement practices, strengthening awareness of physiotherapy as an important component of healthy ageing and independent living.
